Removal of Maya Angelou Performing Arts Principal makes waves with parents and students

In front of the Maya Angelou Community High School at 300 East 53rd. Street, parents, students, and teachers protested the removal of Principal Yolanda Rangel, who has been out of work for one week and is pending an administrative review by the Los Angeles Unified School District. This has left more than 70 teachers students and staff concerned whether she will return, LAUSD has replied that all matters are personal and confidential. 
Monica Torres is a former student of Rangel who attended the protest this morning outside school gates. She like all the other students aren’t sure what happened but Torres said the protest ignited a lot of community involvement.
