This week, volunteers at the Coalition For Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles: CHIRLA, have diligently designed an altar for Day of the Dead, a Mexican holiday in which family and friends gather to honor their loved ones who have passed away. But for undocumented residents like Miguel Molina, 19, Day of the Dead is also a time to remember loved ones who are separated by legal borders. CHIRLA Organizer Antinio Bernabe also remembers the estimated 400 people who lost their lives while crossing the border in search of the American Dream.
