The Council for Watershed Health announced the findings of a report on the Los Angeles River Watershed today at Deaton Auditorium in Downtown Los Angeles. The current report states that pressures of urbanization have resulted in a loss of habitat and human access. In addition, other non-point source contributions, such as urban runoff, have dramatically changed the natural hydrology of the rivers. Though its health record is not spotless, Steele optimistically noted that the council uses these reports to also imagine how the future of the watershed will be.
