Bell Gardens mayor's wife shot husband after years of abuse says attorney

It’s been two days since Lyvette Crespo killed her husband, Bell Gardens Mayor Daniel Crespo. When the Crespos were fighting Tuesday afternoon, their 19-year-old son Daniel, Jr. intervened. At that time Lyvette Crespo grabbed a gun and shot her husband multiple times in the torso, officials said.

Mrs. Crespo’s attorney, Eber Bayona, called a press conference Thursday to offer her side of the story. He said she shot the mayor after years of domestic abuse, and he called the Crespo’s home life “difficult and intolerable.”
