Environmental groups call for Exide Technologies to shut down

Many are not familiar with the City of Vernon. It is not glamorous and it most certainly is not Beverly Hills. It is an industrial city five miles away from downtown Los Angeles. Local environmental organizations have called for the Environmental Protection Agency to shutdown battery recycling company Exide Technologies. Exide is known to release lead pollutants into the city, putting residents and employees at risk of lead poisoning.
