LA poverty rate rises in new census data

The US Census released the results of their American Community Survey today, revealing the the poverty rate in LA has increased by 0.6 percent since 2012.  Despite increased living costs, median household income remained around the same as last year at $57,271. Meanwhile, median home values drop by over $10,000 dollars to $428,500. UCLA urban planning professor Evelyn Blumenberg said that the economy is still feeling the effects from the 2008 recession, which is still causing job displacement.
