Construction of the Blossom Plaza in Chinatown began Thursday. Government officials and community leaders attended the first day of construction to announce their support for the project and welcoming change to the area. The project had been in progress for nearly 15 years before construction crews broke ground in May 2013. The plaza will feature more spaces for business and attract more Angelenos to the area. Although the new renovations could disrupt the authentic culture of Chinatown, local business owners are looking forward to the influx of new customers.

After 15 years, construction is underway for a new mixed use project near the Chinatown Gold Line. The wait didn't sit well with anyone, so it is clear that the progress made in 2013 has been satisfying.
