M'ballu Tejan-Sie

M'ballu Tejan-Sie is a second year graduate student at the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. In 2011 she graduated from Spelman College, a historically black women's college in Atlanta, Georgia, where she received a bachelor of arts degree in Political Science. Her experience at Spelman College is one that she describes as: “life changing and uplifting.” While attending Spelman College Ms. Tejan-Sie, dedicated much of her collegiate experience to working within her own community as well as impoverished communities throughout the nation as a Bonner Scholar, she has tutored 5th grade students at local elementary schools, mentored young girls in Harlem, New York, and served as an intern for the Atlanta justice system. She believes that in serving others she reaps the best reward, and anticipates bringing the issues of the people to the forefront as she embarks on a career in broadcast journalism. Ms.Tejan-Sie has had the opportunity of interning and working with news organizations such as the Los Angeles Times, KNBC, and the Tavis Smiley Show.
