Leaders of Latino organizations gathered to protest against the Mexican government in front of the Mexican Consulate in Downtown Los Angeles this morning. This demonstrations took place only a day after Iguala mayor Jose Luis Abarca and his wife, Maria were arrested for allegedly ordering police to kidnap the students.

Juan Jose Gutierrez, a representative of the Full Rights for Immigrants Coalition lead the press conference. According to Gutierrez, the coalition supports people of Los Angeles that are connected to Guerrero, a state in Mexico where the students were kidnapped.

"Almost 40 days ago to the day, 43 students were kidnapped by police forces in the state of Guerrero," said Gutierrez.

Speeches were in both Spanish and English, some demanding the whereabouts of the students, whether they are dead or alive. The kidnapping has gained national attention in the US. According to Gutierrez, Enrique Pena Nieto, President of Mexico. is the source of this problem.

"There's a growing wave of support throughout the Mexican Republic and in the Unite States where a sizable population of Mexican origin, some say as big as thirty three million people of Mexican origin who live and work in the United States, are clamoring for the resignation of President Enrique Pena Nieto," said Gutierrez.
