The Los Angeles Opera is rehearsing for Florencia en el Amazonas, an opera by the late Mexican composer Daniel Catán. The story, based on writings by the beloved Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez, takes place on a steamboat traveling up the Amazon.  The production is an involved one; it's the first time LA Opera had to build a replica of the stage in their rehearsal room.

Florencia en el Amazonas opens on November 22 and runs through December.
