Encuentro: A theatrical collaboration of Latino artists

Theater festival Encuentro has brought together 19 companies of Latino performers from around the country for performances and workshops. On the festival's opening night, Aurora Theater and Teatro del Sol performed "Mariela in the Desert." Karen Zacarias, "Mariela's" playwright, talked about her work and this historic event.

Encuentro 2014 runs through Nov. 12 at the Los Angeles Theatre Center.
