Opponents of Proposition 1 protest in Beverly Hills

Opponents of Proposition 1 -- Governor Jerry Brown’s water bond that will appear on the California ballot this November -- held a rally and news conference today in front of the Beverly Hills home of Stewart and Lynda Resnick, agriculture tycoons who stand to benefit from the bill’s passing. Proponents of Prop 1 argue that the water bond will provide aid to farmers and businesses in need during droughts like the one California is currently in. Protesters and groups such as the Food & Water Watch disagree, saying that no new water will actually be generated – only profits for big business.
