USC Professor of Gerontology, Valter Longo, found out middle-aged Americans who eat protein-heavy meals have a higher risk of dying from cancer. His study shows that hormones in animal protein promotes growth in the human body. The problem is adults don't need to grow anymore. This is why Longo recommends eating plant-based protein instead of meat.

Despite this study, Chef Charles Olalia of fine-dining restaurant Patina crafted a four-course, protein-heavy Paleo menu. Olalia said the menu was inspired by his friends who do CrossFit training and there just needs to be a balance.
