Some people celebrate the day before lent pulling small plastic babies out of King Cake. Others prefer to fill Fat Tuesday with memories of public revelry, jubulant liver damage and otherwise frowned-upon exhibitionist practices.
For Matt Lewis, who reported on Mardi Gras from a bar on the edge of New Orleans' French Quarter, it's merely the cherry on top of weeks of activity, and a chance to embrace the bayou-based city he calls home.
