Every fourth Thursday of the month, the Midnight Mission on Skid Row hosts a live music event called "Music with a Mission." The event was organized in 2010 by Georgia Berkovich, the Midnight Mission's Community Relations Manager. She calls music and pain "equalizers" that bring communities together.

"In this room everything is safe. People can come in off the street where it's hard and it's scary and have an hour and a half of sweetness in a really rough day," she said. "If people have these moments of sweetness then they start to have hope."

The event has grown in popularity over the years, and the mission will begin hosting a second monthly event on the second Thursday of every month. This year, the mission is celebrating 100 years of serving the Skid Row area.
