Los Angeles County Social Workers on Strike

The Service Employees International Union , which represents 55,000 workers in Los Angeles County had nearly reached a settlement with the Department of Children and Family Services. However, talks were halted when the Department refused to lower the case load of their social workers by hiring an additional 595 new workers. As a result of the DPFS's refusal to comply with the unions demands the SEIU called a strike.
