The subject of campus security measures has some students jumping the fence about racial and social issues.
This past January, USC's adminstration enforced a campus wide lock down from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. limiting campus access to just students, faculty, staff and registered guests.
Permanent and temporary fences were put up a few months after a campus shooting occured during a student ran halloween party.
Some students believe that the fence tells the community that they're viewed as a threat to the campus. Student Makiah Green from USC's Change Movement started a petition against the fences around campus. The petition urges students, faculty and staff to write a letter to President Nikias about finding an alternative way to protect the campus. Green believes the fences symbolize the racial and economic divide on and around USC.
