Billie Lopez along with her childhood friend and business partner, Tootie Maldonado started The Ukelele Orchestra of the Western Hemisphere a few years ago. The group was originally put together just for fun, but recently has gained some local fame. The Ukelele Orchestra of the Western Hemisphere plays gigs ranging from weddings to local music festivals, like Make Music Pasadena.

The group meets every Monday night at The Reform School, a vintage shop in Silver Lake that Lopez and Maldonado own. The band members range from engineers to teachers, but at heart they are ukelele rock stars.
