L.A. apartment rents on the rise

Apartment rents in Los Angeles County climbed to an average of $1,435 a month in the second quarter, according to the USC Casden Multifamily Forecast. 

The study released at the USC Lusk Center for Real Estate conference today in downtown showed that LA rents are slightly lower than averages in Orange County, yet more than San Diego County and Inland Empire rent rates.

The highest average rent in LA was $2,328 in Santa Monica. 

Vincent Reina, a research associate with USC's Lusk Center sheds light on the apartment boom.
