Some of the best golfers in the world are taking the course at the prestigious Los Angeles country club.

It’s located nearly a shot off the tee from the campus of UCLA, yet USC head coach Chris Zambri says the Trojans know the course like the back of their hand.

“LA Country Club is one of our home courses, it’s a place we probably play two or three times a month, which means we got some kids here in our lineup that have been playing there for years,” said Zambri.

USC’s top five golfers are teeing off with six of the top 12 teams in the nation, making this competition no walk in the park. The Trojans embrace the challenge.

“Were just going to have to be great. It’s good. It’s going to force us to get better and to dig a little deeper,” Zambri said. “And we like the competition because I know it’s going to make them better.”

Men’s golf is still searching for their first national championship. Coach Zambri reminds us that golf is more than just winning titles.

“These kids want to come to college, want to experience USC and get an education, Zambri said. “A lot of what they want also is to become PGA tour players. If we're playing well every week or every time we tee it up, that means their hopes and goals are being fulfilled and that’s what we want.”

The Trojans currently sit on the outside looking in for title contention, but head coach Zambri already has the bigger picture in mind.

“In the end, I want kids playing great,” he said. “For our benefit, for their benefit and so part of that is that you’re winning all year long.”

The final day of action starts Wednesday morning, as the Trojans look to gain momentum for the national championship qualifiers on May 16.
