From that old clunker to the slick Porsche 911, Los Angeles is designed around its love of cars. For as long as cars have existed, so has the manual transmission. But as the auto industry throttles into the 21st century, the stick shift may be left behind. Jonathan Horn looks at how the L.A. car culture is changing gears.
