Mayor Villaraigosa has been named chairman of the 2012 Democratic Convention. However, his appointment is not the Mayor's first on the national scene. Villaraigosa has already served as head of the National Conference of Mayors and he was just named one of the co-chairs of President Obama's re-election campaign.
