Pornography viewing in Los Angeles Public Libraries has recently been brought to the attention of city council officials. The Arts, Park, Health and Aging Committee plans to discuss the city's legal options about this issue and ask libraries for recommendations about how to address the issue while still protecting first amendment rights, according to legislative assistant Richard Williams of the Los Angeles City Clerk's Office.

The committee meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. Williams said that the issue should be addressed at one of the next two meetings.

However, reporter Elizabeth Warden visited the Jefferson Park Branch Library in South Los Angeles to talk with librarians and patrons leaving the library about the problem. Listen for more.
