Charlie Beck, the mayor's choice for police chief, has been making the rounds across the city. He's been reaching out to the community in a series of town hall meetings designed to introduce the public to the new chief. Beck's first stop was at Exposition Park in South Los Angeles, where he served as a cop for many years. He took the stage to a standing ovation and spoke about the difficulty of managing the police department in the face of a budget crisis. He also spoke about how he plans to improve community policing programs. Timothy Beck Werth was there and has this report.
