L.A. City Councilmember Bernard C. Parks Discusses the City Budget

Uncertainty remains regarding the long-term national budget as President Obama and congressional leaders failed to come to an agreement last night about spending cuts. On Tuesday, republican Representative Paul Ryan proposed a budget plan radically different from President Obama's. Ryan's plan would cut spending over the next 10 years by $6.2 trillion, including substantial cuts to programs like Medicare, Medicaid, and domestic welfare funding.

As California and the city of Los Angeles wrestle with their own budget shortfalls, ARN spoke to an elected city representative to understand how budget cuts will ultimately affect the south Los Angeles community. Host Sarah Erickson interviewed Councilmember Bernard C. Parks of District 8 about the budget outlook for L.A.
