From designing hats with ties in his mothers basement to creating a multimillion dollar fashion line, FUBU, which is distributed all over the world, Daymond John has proved that any business dream can be accomplished. The New York native first began his line in 1992 based on the lack of apparel targeted specifically for people of color that was actually produced by minorities, henceforth the name FUBU meaning For Us By Us. With popular advertisements featuring hip hop stars such as LL Cool J wearing FUBU, John was well on his way to success and has been dubbed the Godfather of Urban Fashion. He recently starred on ABCs TV series Shark Tank, with four other top business owners to see if they would take a chance and invest in rising entrepreneurs ventures. John speaks nationwide about the importance of building a brand and examines the topic thoroughly in the newest book of his Display of Power series titled The Brand Within.
