The Martin Luther King Jr. Medical Center in South Los Angeles has been a huge point of contention for the county. When it closed over two years ago, it left an underserved community with even less access to healthcare. Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas has always wanted to reopen the hospital and with a recent donation of $100 million dollars from local billionaire Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, the hospital may finally be on the way to reopening.
