Danny Marcia is a 27-year old who grew up in Boyle heights, where he was an active member of the Playboys gang. He was always getting himself
in trouble. He spent more than two years in juvenile hall. He was tired of gang life and decided to make a change in his life. Danny was lucky enough to know Father Gregory Boyles, the founder of Homeboys industry. Danny knew Father Boyles from the mass he conducted in his neighborhood as a child. At age 15, Danny started helping out at a bakery Father Boyles started and developed a hobby. Danny went to school and got a degree as a pastry chef and now manages the pastry department for the new Homeboys bakery. Father Boyles and Homeboy Industries has given thousands of former gang members like Danny a second chance through its job training and education services. Having a job at Homeboy Industries means a new beginning.
