Noriko Uno was driving near her home in Upland when her Toyota Camry sped out of control to 100 miles an hour. She hit the brake pedal but the car wouldn't stop. The car had no backup brakes. She hit a telephone pole and died at the scene.
Her son and husband are suing Toyota. She was driving in a sixth generation model Toyota Camry. The family wants the car recalled.
Jeffrey Uno says his mother was a safe driver and was even afraid to drive on freeways.
Toyota recalled sticking gas pedals in the 2007 to 2010 Camrys. But lawyer Garo Mardirossian says Toyota also needs to put the 2006 models on the list.
Mardirossian says others came forward with complaints about gas pedals sticking in Camrys but Toyota ignored them. The Unos are the first customers in LA suing Toyota since the recall.
Above all, Mardirossian wants to warn other drivers before it's too late. Mardirossian says there have been 389 complaints about the 2006 model nationwide.
