HUD (Department of Housing and Urban Development) has allocated $91 million for a community development block grant to be used throughout the city, primarily in high-density, low-income areas. For example, money will be provided to fund economic development, housing, youth programs and assistance for the elderly. Community meetings are being held to determine how residents feel about the allocations, and if any programs are being underfunded.
