The 9th neighborhood district welcomed the Central Avenue Farmers Market. Amanda Herman reports.
=====================================================
The sound of customers haggling over prices is common at farmers markets across the city. Now, the Central Avenue neighborhood has one to call their own.

The newly constructed Ninth District Neighborhood City Hall welcomed the Central Avenue Farmer's Market to its new home today. Councilwoman Jan Perry's office sponsors the market. Her representative Eva Behrend says the market hopes to attract shoppers with its wide variety of goods and relaxed atmosphere.
The market's spacious new spot right on Central Avenue has both shoppers and vendors excited about its convenience for local residents.

Beginning in April, Central Avenue will be the first farmers market to accept cash-value vouchers from the WIC program. This federally funded heath care program for women, infants, and children will allow WIC families to shop at the market on a monthly basis.

The Central Avenue Farmers Market is open every Thursday from noon until 5 PM, rain or shine. Amanda Herman, Annenberg Radio News.
