Only five days remain in California's notable and expensive election, marking the end of a memorable and particularly pointed race. There is no shortage of candidate drama this year, as reflected by the sharp advertisements and accusations on the airwaves.

This election has been more dependent than any other on fundraising and finance, breaking the record for the most expensive non-presidential campaign in the United States.

Meg Whitman, the Republican candidate for California governor, broke the record for most spent on a personal campaign. California's campaign budget totaled more than $4 billion that was gathered from both major political parties, Political Action Committees and the independent public. This coincides with the incoming governor inheriting a $20 billion deficit.
