When Arnett Hartsfield joined the Los Angeles Fire Department he had to join segregated crew. They were Station 30, located at Central Avenue and Pico Boulevard. Almost 70 years later, hes the historian at the African-American Firefighter Museum, built in the same station where he used to work. Timothy Beck Werth spoke to him and his friend Roger Duncan, another firefighter, about their time in the department.
