Visions & Voices: "No Mas Bebes" Director Interview

It’s a buried chapter in Los Angeles history, one that may have been left in the history books untouched if not for Renee Tajima-Peña’s documentary, “No mas Bebes.” It’s the story of local Latina women who found themselves sterilized without their consent after giving birth at the USC teaching hospital. “No mas Bebes” tracked many of the remaining survivors, doctors and lawyers involved with the civil lawsuit that followed the scandal for their sides of the story. Monica Castillo spoke with director Tajima-Peña about the challenges she faced when bringing these hidden histories to light.
