The Hot Seat: Political Reporter Dave Bryan

The Hot Seat has gone to video video. The first Skype guest is KCBS-TV and KCAL 9 political reporter Dave Bryan. The interview touched on Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, the Los Angeles City Council, LA24 and national politics.

The sheriff and the two new members of the Board of Supervisors - Sheila Kuehl and Hilda Solis - were elected in Nov. 2014, and Bryan believes they have all started to introduce reforms or plans that set them apart from their respective predecessors.

Bryan, like many people, wonders where the City of Los Angeles found $100 million to deal with the issue of homelessness. Staying on the topic of money, he said there will be costs associated with the Summer Olympics if Los Angeles is the host city for 2024, even though the Los Angeles area has existing facilities.

He does not believe there will be a federal government shutdown because House Speaker John Boehner is the speaker until Oct. 30.

This interview was recorded on Sept. 28.
