Hit and Runs pose a larger threat to bicyclists

Recent data from the California Highway Patrol shows that the overall number of hit and run accidents in Los Angeles County decreased between 2002 and 2012. However, the number of bicyclists involved in hit and run accidents rose by 42 percent. From 2008 to 2012, one in five or about 80 percent of hit and run cases were closed by the Los Angeles Police Department, according to the Los Angeles Times. In the streets of Los Angeles County and on the University of Southern California campus, officials and students are working hard to maintain bike safety.
