How can we make Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz – a 17th Century Mexican writer – contemporary?  Three playwrights – Rose Portillo, Alan Pulner and Theresa Chavez – wrote "Properties of Silence," a multilayered dreamscape of a play, where Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz comes to the present day and meets a married couple living in Arizona.  As a part of Encuentro 2014, the play will be performed on Nov. 7 and 8 at the Los Angeles Theatre Center.
