LAUSD considers mandatory ethnic studies for LA high schools

The Los Angeles Unified School District was scheduled to discuss the addtion of ethnic studies as a grauduation requirement for high school students. 

Ethnic studies consist of Latin American, African-American, American Indian and Asian American studies. 

"When you learn about these things you're able to come back to your neighborhood and pinpoint how everything has been structurally created," Elmo Gomez, a youth organizer of Labor Community Strategy Center, said.

Gomez and others rallied at the LAUSD school board, waiting to hear its decision.
