With a 9% growth in this year, the Port of Los Angeles is experiencing backups due to equipment shortages, labor negotiations and rail delays.  This perfect storm of issues has resulted in frustrated retailers who are accustomed to getting their merchendise off the ship at the port and moving across the country that same day.

Spokesman for the port, Phillip Sanfield, said that the Port of LA is aware of the issue and working to fix these delays.  While the port won't take any major hits this season, this situation brings to light a larger issue on import demand and how retailers can strategize differently as these challenges continue to be addressed.
