Domestic violence has caught national attention with recent NFL incidents, changing the perception of the professional athlete.

Star athletes are scrutinized in the media for the mistakes that are brought to the public's eye.

Domestic violence, however, isn't limited to a specific population; ethnicity, gender, or race.

"Everybody has a breaking point, so whatever profession you're in there is stress everywhere, and sometimes those that blow up are the ones that don't get it out on a regular basis," Tory Cox, USC professor of social work, said.

Anthony Recker, New York Mets' catcher, says that players are not naturally agressive and perceiving them as such is unfair and a stereotype.

Recker says to heighten awareness players are shown educational videos during their spring training session, teaching them how to deal with stress and domestic violence issues. He also says this winter he anticpates the player's union to have discussion on domestic violence available to all players.
