Fruits and vegetables are being grown in an unusal location, the fifth floor of a building in downtown Los Angeles.

The Jonathan Club located on Figueroa Street uses the home grown produce in their restaurant.

Lowell Frank, urban farmer with Farmscape Gardens, works on the garden twice a week. Frank says urban farming can help conserve water. He says gardening uses less water than an actual lawn. 

The Los Angeles City Council today said it wants to expand urban farming. The city will host "Food Day" on October 24, which is aimed at the public to eat healthier. 

Urban farming is becoming an increasing trend in busy cities like Los Angeles, Pasadena and Long Beach.
