Novelist Gabriel Garcia Marquez dies at 87

Nobel Prize-winning author Gabriel Garcia Marquez died today. He was considered by many to be one of the best Latin American writers of all time and a master of the literary style: magical realism.

Macarena Gomez Barris researches Latin American literature and politics at the University of Southern California. She says Garcia Marquez's legacy is his global reach and influence in proliferating the use of magical realism in literature. 

Garcia Marquez died at his home in Mexico. He was 87.
