The University of Southern California and the Grammy Museum at L.A. Live will partner up to give students and faculty access to the museum's archives, experts and other resources.

The museum's director, Bob Santelli, is a USC alumnus and said that the partnership with the school was natural since the campus and the museum are both located near downtown Los Angeles.

The Vice Dean of the school of music, Chris Sampson, said that the partnership is key in maintaining relevance and a curriculum based in the real world. "Fifty percent of learning takes place outside of the classroom," he said.

Brett Fromson is a senior in the pop music program at USC who performed at the announcement ceremony on campus. He visited the Grammy Museum often during his studies at USC and thinks the partnership was already in place in an informal way. "I consider the Grammy Museum a big part of my life. To me it sort of already had been a thing, but now it's official."

Santelli is visiting other potential partner universities and the museum will announce additional university partners throughout 2014.
