Mayor Garcetti held a press conference Tuesday morning in Watts to announce plans for a summer youth job program that will create 10,000 job opportunities for those between the ages of 14 and 24. Garcetti teamed up with many private contributors. Among the contributors was the Walt Disney Corporation. CEO Robert Iger said Disney would be donating one million dollars to the initiative.

Mayor Garcetti anticipates that the program will improve the current youth unemployment rate, which has gone down by 15 points in the last decade. Los Angeles has one of the highest youth unemployment rate, ranking 98 out of 100 cities.
