The LA City Council approved to increase the project budget at the port of LA to $510 million, up from the $245 million authorized by the city council four years ago. The project will be completed by 2018. By then the port will be the second in the nation to have a partially automated terminal named TraPac, which aims to increase cargo movement in the port.

The Port of LA is one of the largest trade gateways in the nation, with a capacity of eight million containers each year.
