Jason Berry was the first investigative reporter to cover the Catholic sex-abuse scandal in the U.S. in the 1980s and is currently reporting for the National Catholic Reporter and Global Post. His 2004 book, Vows of Silence, exposed the culture of secrecy in the Church under Pope John Paul II.

He spoke with host Omar Shamout about the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI, and the role of former Los Angeles Archbishop, Roger Mahony, in next month's papal conclave.
