Parks not liquor stores. The Community Coalition gathered to reduce crime and clean up the area around Martin Luther King Jr. Park in South L.A. Also in an effort to reduce crime the Governor and other city officials unveiled their annual "Gifts for Guns" program. The program promotes gun owners exchanging their firearms for gift certificates to grocery stores and other retail outlets. U.S. Mexico relations are taking a front seat in Los Angeles. Javier Rodriguez from the March 25 Coalition weighted in on the subject. Also education is still a hot topic in Los Angeles. From funding for books to the 24th Street Elementary School instating a community gardens program - administrators and students tell us about the programs that are helping them get through these tough times.
