Mayor Antonio Villaraigos announced Deputy Police Chief Charlie Beck as his choice to become the next chief of the LAPD. A routine police stop in South L.A. turned violent as the drive drew a gun and fired shots at officers. The L.A. County Board of Supervisors offered a $10,000 reward in the shooting death of a 16-year-old Long Beach high school student last Friday.
