ACLU releases report on mentally ill inmates, seeks LA County board of supervisors help

The suicide of a detainee at the Men's Central Jail raises bigger questions about the county's jail system and its ability to provide mental health care. John Horton, 22, was found hanging from a noose in his cramped cell. Mental health services are drastically underfunded in county jails, and could be cut even further. The ACLU has been working with Sheriff Lee Baca to shut down the facility altogether.
