Yvonne Burke endorses Bernard Parks for supervisor Los Angeles County Supervisor Yvonne Brathwaite Burke is stepping down from office when her term ends. She has represented the 2nd District, which includes South Los Angeles, since 1992. On Thursday, February 14th she announced her endorsement of City Councilman Bernard Parks to succeed her. Parks is running against State Senator Mark Ridley-Thomas and community activist Morris Griffin in the June election. Nearly one million Americans are in delinquency of paying their mortgages, and the new pilot program would give struggling borrowers 30 days to rework their loans and work with a nonprofit financial counseling service.
